Abstract

La tesi analizza le Reti Avversarie Generative (GAN) e Creative (CAN) come tecnologie che trasformano il rapporto tra Intelligenza Artificiale e arte contemporanea. A partire dalla loro struttura competitiva e oppositiva, vengono indagate le implicazioni estetiche e creative, evidenziando il ruolo dell’IA non solo come strumento, ma come agente progettuale. Attraverso casi studio e riferimenti teorici, emergono sia le potenzialità espressive di questi modelli, che le criticità etiche, giuridiche e ambientali, ponendo interrogativi urgenti su autorialità, diritto d’autore, disuguaglianze e sostenibilità. La tesi propone una riflessione sull’ambivalenza dei modelli neurali, soglie in cui si ridefiniscono i concetti stessi di arte, coscienza e intelligenza.

The thesis analyses Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) and Creative Adversarial Networks (CANs) as technologies that transform the relationship between Artificial Intelligence and contemporary art. Starting from their competitive and oppositional structure, it investigates their aesthetic and creative implications, highlighting the role of AI not only as a tool, but as a design agent.

Through case studies and theoretical references, both the expressive potential of these models and their ethical, legal, and environmental concerns emerge, raising urgent questions about authorship, copyright, inequality, and sustainability. The thesis offers a reflection on the ambivalence of neural models, understood as thresholds where the very notions of art, consciousness, and intelligence are redefined.
