DISTRESS GENITORIALE E DISTURBI DEL LINGUAGGIO IN BAMBINI DI ETA’ PRESCOLARE: Risultati Preliminari di uno studio sperimentale.

Abstract

Negli ultimi anni, diversi studi hanno dimostrato che i genitori di bambini con Disturbi del Linguaggio (DSL) sperimentano più stress genitoriale rispetto ai genitori di bambini con sviluppo tipico, ma la relazione tra il tipo di disturbo e lo stress genitoriale è tutt'altro che chiara. Lo scopo di questa tesi è confrontare lo stress genitoriale sperimentato dai genitori di 16 bambini con diversi tipi di disturbo del linguaggio, il questionario "Strength and Difficulty Questionnaire" (SSD) e la scala "Intelleggibility in Context Scale". Il campione di bambini esaminato rientra nella fascia di età prescolare, vivono e sono presi in carico da logopedisti della città di Genova. I genitori a cui sono stati sottoposti i questionari non hanno tutti lo stesso livello culturale e sociale. I dati ottenuti in questa tesi non sono statisticamente significativi, ma vanno nella direzione attesa e suggeriscono che i genitori di bambini con diversi tipi di DSL dovrebbero ricevere interventi e risorse per fornire loro le conoscenze e le competenze necessarie per ridurre lo stress e migliorare la qualità della vita.

In recent years, various studies have shown that parents of children with Language Disorders (LD) experience more parenting stress than parents of typically developing children, but the relation between the type of disorders and parenting stress is far from clear. The purpose of this thesis is to compare the parenting stress experienced by parents of 16 children with language disorders, the strength and difficulties questionnaire (SSD) and the Intelligibility in Context Scale. The sample of children examined are in the pre-school age group, they live and are cared for by speech therapists from the city of Genoa. The parents to whom the questionnaires were submitted do not all have the same cultural and social level. The data obtained in this thesis are not statistically significant but go in the expected direction and suggest that parents of children with different type of LDs should be provided with interventions and resources to empower them with the knowledge and skills to reduce their stress and to enhance their quality of life.
