Abstract

This thesis explores the topic of inclusive education in early childhood, with particular attention to collaboration between educational and social services. Starting from the main theoretical and regulatory frameworks, the study analyses the role of early childhood educational services for children aged 0–6 as key settings for observation, prevention and the promotion of children’s well-being, as well as the role of social services in supporting families and protecting children. Particular attention is given to the educational counselling service promoted by the “Prevention and Community” Technical Team of the Municipality of Genoa, as a concrete example of local collaboration between educational and social services. The counselling service provides early childhood educators with a professional space for discussion, aimed at sharing observations, understanding situations of vulnerability and identifying possible strategies for intervention and support. The experience highlights the importance of educational observation, early prevention and networking in developing inclusive interventions and supporting the well-being of children and their families.
