This thesis aims to investigate Democratic Confederalism both in its theoretical dimension, developed by Abdullah Öcalan, and as the inspiring theory behind the experience of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, in Kurdistan.
It first summarizes the evolution of the Kurdish question, then focuses on the figure of Öcalan and the theoretical roots of his philosophical work.
Subsequently, it explores the events of Rojava (North-East Syria), placing them within the context of the Syrian civil war and highlighting their salient political and social aspects.
Finally, it addresses the epilogue of the Democratic Confederalism experience in Rojava, attempting to outline possible future scenarios.
