Narrazioni strategiche in due casi studio: la guerra in Ucraina e la guerra a Gaza

Abstract

La mia tesi ha come argomento centrale le narrazioni strategiche utilizzate in due conflitti contemporanei: la guerra in Ucraina (dal 24 febbraio 2022 al 24 febbraio 2026) e la guerra a Gaza (dal 7 ottobre 2023 a giugno 2026). Nel primo capitolo fornisco una definizione di narrazioni strategiche ed esamino i loro utilizzi. Nei capitoli successivi, mi concentro sulla loro messa in pratica da parte di vari attori politici. Per quanto riguarda la guerra in Ucraina, ho esaminato l’Unione Europea, l’Italia, la Germania, l’Olanda e la Federazione Russa, riportando alcuni stralci dai discorsi tenuti dalla presidente della Commissione dell’Unione Europea, dall’Alto Rappresentate e da parte del Consiglio Europeo. Per la guerra a Gaza mi sono soffermata sull’Unione Europea, l’Italia, l’Irlanda e la Spagna.

My thesis examines how strategic narratives have been implemented during two contemporary conflicts: the war in Ukraine (24 February 2022-24 February 2026) and the war in Gaza (7 October 2023-June 2026). In the first chapter I explain what strategic narratives are and how they can be used by what kind of actors. The political actors I focus on in the chapters are the European Union, Italy (both the government in office and opposition parties), Germany, the Netherlands and the Russian Federation, concerning the war in Ukraine. While, for the war in Gaza, I examine the European Union, Italy (both the government in office and the opposition parties), Ireland and Spain. I focus on the main speeches by the President of the Commission of the EU, Ursula Von der Leyen, the High Representative and the role of the European Council. While for the countries analyzed, I examine the speeches of their Prime Ministers and Presidents in some cases.
