Traduzione e analisi della graphic novel "Les coquelicots de Ridgewood" di Shaghayegh Moazzami

Abstract

Il presente lavoro di Tesi magistrale ha come obiettivo la traduzione della graphic novel autobiografica “Les coquelicots de Ridgewood” dell’autrice iraniano-canadese Shaghayegh Moazzami. Il progetto unisce traduzione, analisi traduttologica e riflessione interculturale. Dopo aver introdotto l’autrice, la sua opera e le peculiarità del fumetto, la tesi propone la traduzione completa del testo, seguita da un’analisi approfondita delle macro e micro-strategie traduttive, con particolare attenzione a elementi come pertestualità, fonosimbolismo e realia. Il commento evidenzia le sfide specifiche poste dalla natura multimodale del fumetto, in cui codice verbale e iconico interagiscono nella costruzione del senso. Il lavoro si conclude con un’intervista a Moazzami, la quale chiarisce aspetti dell’opera e approfondisce temi quali immigrazione, identità e memoria, offrendo così un quadro completo della dimensione narrativa e culturale della graphic novel.

This Master’s thesis aims to translate the autobiographical graphic novel "Les coquelicots de Ridgewood" by Iranian-Canadian author Shaghayegh Moazzami. The project combines translation, analysis, and intercultural reflection. After introducing the author, her work, and the specific features of the comic medium, the thesis presents the complete translation of the text, followed by an in-depth analysis of the macro- and micro-strategies adopted, with particular attention to elements such as paratextuality, phonosymbolism, and realia. The commentary highlights the specific challenges posed by the multimodal nature of comics, in which verbal and visual codes interact in the construction of meaning. The work concludes with an interview with Moazzami, who clarifies aspects of the graphic novel and further explores themes such as immigration, identity, and memory, thus offering a comprehensive overview of the narrative and cultural dimensions of the work.
