Il ruolo dell’infermiere nella gestione delle tossicità chemio-immuno correlate: interventi di educazione terapeutica.

Abstract

Titolo: “Il ruolo dell’infermiere nella gestione delle tossicità chemio-immuno correlate: interventi di educazione terapeutica.” Background: La crescente diffusione delle terapie oncologiche, in particolare della chemioterapia e dell’immunoterapia, ha profondamente modificato la prognosi e le prospettive di sopravvivenza dei pazienti oncologici. Tuttavia, tali trattamenti comportano frequentemente l’insorgenza di tossicità significative. In questo contesto, il ruolo dell’infermiere assume una valenza centrale nell’ambito dell’educazione terapeutica, volta a promuovere l’autonomia, la consapevolezza e l’empowerment del paziente. La letteratura più recente evidenzia come interventi educativi mirati contribuiscano a ridurre l’incidenza e la gravità delle tossicità. Metodo: Lo studio è stato condotto attraverso una revisione della letteratura sulla banca dati biomedica PubMed, selezionando nove studi pubblicati negli ultimi cinque anni riguardanti gli interventi educativi infermieristici nella gestione delle tossicità chemio- e immuno-correlate. Contestualmente, sono state elaborate due brochure informative: una rivolta ai pazienti sottoposti a chemioterapia e l’altra destinata ai pazienti sottoposti a trattamento immunoterapico. Le brochure fornivano informazioni pratiche sulla prevenzione e la gestione dei principali effetti collaterali. Risultati: Dall’analisi degli studi selezionati è emerso che gli interventi educativi contribuiscono in maniera significativa a ridurre l’incidenza e la gravità delle tossicità. La brochure informativa, rappresenta uno strumento efficace e facilmente utilizzabile. Conclusioni: I risultati ottenuti confermano la centralità dell’infermiere nel processo educativo e assistenziale, evidenziando come l’educazione terapeutica rappresenti un intervento fondamentale per migliorare la qualità della vita del paziente oncologico e garantire una presa in carico realmente globale.

Title: "The Role of Nurses in the Management of Chemo- and Immune-Related Toxicities: Therapeutic Education Interventions." Background: The increasing use of oncology therapies, particularly chemotherapy and immunotherapy, has profoundly changed the prognosis and survival prospects of cancer patients. However, these treatments frequently result in significant toxicities. In this context, the role of nurses assumes a central role in therapeutic education, aimed at promoting patient autonomy, awareness, and empowerment. Recent literature highlights how targeted educational interventions contribute to reducing the incidence and severity of toxicities. Method: The study was conducted through a literature review in the biomedical database PubMed, selecting nine studies published in the last five years regarding nursing educational interventions in the management of chemotherapy- and immune-related toxicities. At the same time, two information brochures were developed: one for patients undergoing chemotherapy and the other for patients undergoing immunotherapy treatment. The brochures provided practical information on the prevention and management of major side effects. Results: The analysis of the selected studies showed that educational interventions significantly contribute to reducing the incidence and severity of toxicities. The information brochure represents an effective and easy-to-use tool. Conclusions: The results obtained confirm the central role of the nurse in the educational and care process, highlighting how therapeutic education represents a fundamental intervention for improving the quality of life of cancer patients and ensuring truly comprehensive care.
