"Gestione della Plagiocefalia Posizionale e del Torcicollo Posturale nei Neonati: Un Programma di Prevenzione, Screening e Trattamento nell'ASL 1 Imperiese"

Abstract

Il mio elaborato di tesi tratta di plagiocefalia posizionale e torcicollo posturale in neonati compresi tra 0 e 6 mesi. Queste asimmetrie, tipiche dei lattanti, sono state affrontate durante il progetto a cui ho preso parte nel Centro pediatrico di Riabilitazione Motoria dell' ASL 1 Imperiese, allo scopo di diffondere informazione, consapevolezza ed educazione sugli argomenti citati in modo da prevenire questi tipi di deformazioni, individuarle e trattarle precocemente per evitare complicanze secondarie. Durante il progetto sono stati presi in carico 5 neonati, osservati durante un corso di affiancamento alla nascita tenutosi nella stessa sede e selezionati attraverso un questionario. Nell'elaborato viene quindi fatto un quadro generale sullo sviluppo psicomotorio fisiologico del neonato, soffermandosi sulla componente cranica e cervicale, per poi affrontare i temi della plagiocefalia e del torcicollo, trattando le definizioni, l'epidemiologia e l'eziopatogenesi. Si parla poi della valutazione delle asimmetrie, delle varie metodologie di misurazione, della prevenzione e dei trattamenti che si possono effettuare per questi tipi di patologie, conservativi e non. Vengono inoltre presentati e analizzati i dati raccolti sui casi clinici che sono stati presi in carico nel corso del progetto, soffermandosi anche sul progetto riabilitativo, in modo da osservare ed evidenziare quelli che sono stati i cambiamenti e i miglioramenti a livello cranico e cervicale ottenuti durante le sedute e attraverso l'home program. Infine, sono state tratte le conclusioni sul trattamento riabilitativo eseguito sui piccoli pazienti, che in tempi brevi ha prodotto miglioramenti importanti sulle simmetrie craniche, e sul livello di conoscenza dei neogenitori e dei caregiver riguardo l'argomento, esprimendo il mio pensiero in merito all'ampliamento delle campagne informative sulla plagiocefalia posizionale e sul torcicollo posturale rivolte a genitori e professionisti che operano con neonati.

My thesis paper deals with positional plagiocephaly and postural torticollis in newborns between 0 and 6 months. These asymmetries, typical of infants, were addressed during the project in which I took part in the Pediatric Motor Rehabilitation Center of the ASL 1 Imperia, with the aim of disseminating information, awareness and education on the topics mentioned in order to prevent these types of deformations, identify them and treat them early to avoid secondary complications. During the project, 5 newborns were taken care of, observed during a birth support course held in the same location and selected through a questionnaire. The paper therefore gives a general overview of the physiological psychomotor development of the newborn, focusing on the cranial and cervical component, and then addresses the themes of plagiocephaly and torticollis, dealing with definitions, epidemiology and etiopathogenesis. We then talk about the evaluation of asymmetries, the various measurement methodologies, the prevention and treatments that can be carried out for these types of pathologies, conservative and otherwise. Furthermore, the data collected on the clinical cases that were taken care of during the project are presented and analysed, also focusing on the rehabilitation project, in order to observe and highlight the changes and improvements at the cranial and cervical level obtained during the sessions and through the home program. Finally, conclusions were drawn on the rehabilitation treatment performed on young patients, which quickly produced important improvements on cranial symmetries, and on the level of knowledge of new parents and caregivers regarding the topic, expressing my thoughts on the expansion of information campaigns on positional plagiocephaly and postural torticollis aimed at parents and professionals who work with newborns.
