The research investigates and questions which design approaches must be followed while operating a new technology, using as an example robotic construction and parametric modeling software. Behind these hypothesis lies a deep reflection on the scope of design, what links the designer with their new tools. What has become of the boundary between digital design and traditional practical experimentation. This work analyses the opportunities given by UAVs, unmanned-aerial-vehicles, as actors in the construction process, reading through the state-of-the-art for defining new innovative systems and methods. Throughout different technologies and physical forms, divided by generations, modeled and optimized by their weight, structural strength and size. The first generation provived numerous solutions based on folded architecture and origami, while the second chose a more traditional form, focusing on specialized joints that satisfy the demand for an autonomous building process. The results are various, starting from the re-analysis of abandoned solutions under new design goals and different contexts, reflections on the method regarding the application of digital fabrication, and suggestions on how to approach similar tasks with new technologies.en_UK
