Dalla schiavitù Mediterranea a quella Atlantica, attraverso storia, arte e letteratura

Abstract

Lo scopo di questo mio lavoro è stato affrontare un tema particolarmente ampio, cercando di esplorarlo il più possibile non solo dal punto di vista storico ma anche letterario e artistico. Ho sempre trovato particolarmente interessante la storia della schiavitù ma non ero mai riuscita ad approfondirla a 360 ° come ho cercato di fare in questo mio lavoro. Non mi sono limitata ad utilizzare una bibliografia o sitografia italiana, ma vista la mia passione per le altre lingue e culture straniere ho approfondito libri e documentazioni inglesi, spagnole e francesi. Mi sono ritrovata ad affrontare un argomento decisamente più grande di me, ammetto quindi che è stato impegnativo e difficile cercare di capire che materiale utilizzare e che fatti storici toccare soprattutto. Più mi informavo sull'argomento, più mi rendevo conto però che era difficile scegliere di cosa parlare, forse anche presuntuoso pensare di poterlo fare. Più approfondivo l’argomento, più mi rendevo conto che se ne parla forse troppo superficialmente a volte rispetto al peso che ha avuto la schiavitù nella storia e non solo. Quello che ho cercato di fare è stato partire da quello che quasi tutti sanno sull’argomento, per poi trovare collegamenti che quasi nessuno tende a fare. Ho cercato di spaziare il più possibile e di non pormi limiti, esplorando le conoscenze che ho acquisito nel corso dei miei anni di studio, unendole alle intuizioni che mi venivano scrivendo e alle mie conoscenze personali.

The purpose of this work of mine was to address a particularly broad theme, trying to explore it as much as possible not only from a historical but also from a literary and artistic point of view.

I have always found the history of slavery particularly interesting but I had never been able to deepen it at 360 ° as I tried to do in this work of mine.

I did not limit myself to using an Italian bibliography or sitography, but given my passion for other foreign languages and cultures I have delved into English, Spanish and French books and documentation.

I found myself facing a topic much bigger than me, so I admit that it was challenging and difficult to try to understand what material to use and what historical facts to touch above all.

The more I informed myself on the subject, the more I realized that it was difficult to choose what to talk about, perhaps even presumptuous to think that I could do it.

The more I went into the subject, the more I realized that it is perhaps talked about too superficially at times compared to the weight that slavery has had in history and beyond.

What I tried to do was to start from what almost everyone knows about the subject, and then find connections that almost no one tends to make. I tried to space as much as possible and not to set limits, exploring the knowledge I acquired during my years of study, combining it with the intuitions that were writing to me and to my personal knowledge.
