Mother blame: stigmatizzazione delle scelte alimentari e di vita delle madri.

Abstract

Il presente elaborato di laurea ha l’obiettivo di analizzare il tema del **mother blame**, ovvero il “processo pubblico di colpevolizzazione indirizzato alle madri ‘non abbastanza buone’, e di come esso rifletta le pressioni culturali e le aspettative sociali che ricadono sul ruolo materno. Si esaminerà il contesto sociale che conduce al **mother blame** e le varie tipologie di madri che vengono colpevolizzate, poiché il loro modo di praticare la maternità è considerato non conforme al paradigma dominante della società neoliberale. Tra di esse vi sono le madri adolescenti, le madri di figli disabili, di figli devianti e le "madri frigorifero". Nel terzo capitolo, il **mother blame** verrà poi declinato in relazione all'alimentazione, esaminando come la società giudica e stigmatizza le madri in base alle loro scelte alimentari."

This thesis aims to analyze the topic of mother blame, the "public process of blaming directed at 'not good enough' mothers," and how it reflects the cultural pressures and social expectations placed on the maternal role. We will examine the social context that leads to mother blame and the various types of mothers who are blamed because their way of practicing motherhood is considered non-conforming to the dominant paradigm of neoliberal society. These include teenage mothers, mothers of disabled children, mothers of deviant children, and "refrigerator mothers." In the third chapter, mother blame will be explored in relation to nutrition, examining how society judges and stigmatizes mothers based on their dietary choices.
