Divergenze parallele. Costruzioni dell'identità nel processo di disgregazione della Jugoslavia

Abstract

La tesi tenta di decostruire le narrazioni sulle guerre nei Balcani basate su una lettura primordialista, etnica e tribale. A tal fine, verrà decostruito il concetto di identità, attraverso le lenti dell'antropologia culturale. Inoltre, si approfondiranno alcune dimensioni culturali della ex-Jugoslavia: lo sport negli anni Ottanta e Novanta (in modo peculiare le Olimpiadi di Sarajevo, il calcio ed il basket) e la vita culturale di Sarajevo durante l'assedio. L'approfondimento di questi temi mostrerà due differenti traiettorie: da un lato, verrà evidenziato quanto le narrazioni identitarie dei politici e dei media siano in grado di insinuarsi nella vita quotidiana, creando spaccature profonde; d'altro canto, verranno sottolineate alcune modalità di resistenza a tali narrazioni. Infine, verranno tratteggiate le conseguenze degli eventi di quegli anni nella vita politica e sociale degli Stati ex-jugoslavi attuali.

The thesis attempts to deconstruct the narratives on the wars in the Balkans based on a primordialist, ethnic and tribal reading. To this end, the concept of identity will be deconstructed, through the lenses of cultural anthropology. Furthermore, some cultural dimensions of the former Yugoslavia will be explored in depth: sport in the 1980s and 1990s (especially the Sarajevo Olympics, football and basketball) and the cultural life of Sarajevo during the siege. The in-depth analysis of these themes will show two different trajectories: on the one hand, it will be highlighted how much the identity narratives of politicians and the media are able to insinuate themselves into daily life, creating deep rifts; on the other hand, some ways of resisting such narratives will be highlighted. Finally, the consequences of the events of those years in the political and social life of the current ex-Yugoslav states will be outlined.
