Progetto di riqualificazione e restauro del giardino pensile della fonazione Galleani - de Bottini a Ventimiglia

Abstract

The aim of this study is to analyze and implement a redevelopment project for an ancient hanging garden, which is part of a series of hanging gardens similar in structure, but differentiated from each other in terms of shape. The peculiarity of these gardens is the fact that even if they are structurally the same, they are all different, not only in color but also in composition and aesthetics.

Following the birth of the Galleani - de Bottini foundation in October, the process of redeveloping the garden began in order to make it accessible to visitors.

The study began with the framing and survey in order to evaluate the exposure, the climate and the correlation of the present system, continuing with a historical research of the birth of the garden, which was particularly difficult due to the lack of material.

The analysis therefore focused on the structure of the garden, starting from some fairly recent testimonies and photos and from the species also present in the adjacent gardens. Research on the birth and evolution of the "hanging garden" helped to hypothesize the possible structure and layout.

Subsequently, observations were made on the conditions of the plant species present, in order to decide which species should be maintained and enhanced and which should be cut down due to existing diseases or because they are dangerous over time.

The objective of the project is not only to bring the garden to light, but also to reveal its history. An intense journey that makes it fascinating and mysterious at the same time.

Lo scopo di questo studio è di analizzare e realizzare un progetto di riqualificazione di un giardino pensile antico, che fa parte di una serie di giardini pensili simili come struttura, ma differenziati uno dall’altro dal punto di vista della forma. La particolarità di questi giardini è il fatto che anche se strutturalmente sono uguali, risultano tutti diversi, non solo per il colore ma anche per la composizione e l’estetica.

In seguito alla nascita della fondazione Galleani - de Bottini ad ottobre, è iniziato il percorso di riqualificazione del giardinoal fine di renderlo fruibile ai visitatori.

Lo studio è iniziato con l’inquadramento e il rilievo al fine di valutare l’esposizione, il clima e la correlazione del sistema presente, proseguendo con una ricerca storica della nascita del giardino, la quale è stata particolarmente difficile per la mancanza di materiale.

L’analisi quindi si è focalizzata sulla struttura del giardino, partendo da alcune testimonianze e foto abbastanza recenti e dalle specie presenti anche nei giardini adiacenti. Una ricerca sulla nascita e l’evoluzione del “giardino pensile” ha aiutato a ipotizzare la struttura e l’impianto possibili.

Successivamente sono state fatte osservazioni sulle condizioni delle specie vegetali presenti, al fine di ecidere quali specie dovranno essere mantenute e valorizzate e quali abbattute per malattie presenti o perchè pericolose nel tempo.

L’obiettivo del progetto, non è solo quello di riportare alla luce il giardino, ma anche di far trapelare la sua storia. Un percorso intenso che lo rende affascinante e misterioso allo stesso tempo.
