Abstract

La tesi analizza i rapporti tra USA e Russia partendo dalla fine della Guerra Fredda, segnata indelebilmente dalla caduta del Muro di Berlino, per arrivare ai nostri giorni. Vengono analizzate in particolare le conseguenze che la fine del conflitto ideologico aveva avuto dal punto di vista globale e vengono approfonditi i punti di vista di entrambe le nazioni coinvolte. Gli USA ne erano usciti vincitori ma esportare i propri valori e i propri principi non era risultato semplice come ci si aspettava; in particolare la fine della Guerra Fredda aveva scongelato delle crisi che erano state bloccate per anni, a causa del mancato supporto dei due paesi. La dissoluzione dell’URSS invece aveva portato alla nascita della Russia, che negli anni iniziò a chiedere un ruolo di primo piano e intraprendere delle guerre con i nuovi stati poiché punta a controllare la zona. La tesi approfondisce quindi gli eventi che hanno segnato questi anni, caratterizzati da periodi più pacifici a periodi più critici.

The thesis analyzes the relations between the USA and Russia starting from the end of the Cold War, indelibly marked by the fall of the Berlin Wall, up to the present day. In particular, the consequences that the end of the ideological conflict had from a global point of view are analyzed and the points of view of both nations involved are explored in depth. The USA had emerged victorious but exporting its values ​​and principles was not as simple as expected; in particular, the end of the Cold War had thawed crises that had been blocked for years, due to the lack of support from the two countries. The dissolution of the USSR, however, had led to the birth of Russia, which over the years began to demand a leading role and wage wars with the new states as it aimed to control the area. The thesis therefore delves into the events that marked these years, characterized by more peaceful periods to more critical periods.
