IL PALIOTTO IN SCAGLIOLA DEL SANTUARIO DELLA BEATA VERGINE DELLE GRAZIE NELLA FRAZIONE BRICCO DEL COMUNE DI NEIVE: ANALISI STORICA E CONFRONTI STILISTICI PER UN'IPOTESI DI ATTRIBUZIONE

Abstract

Il presente contributo ha lo scopo di approfondire la conoscenza storico-documentaria così come di proporre un’analisi stilistica di uno splendido paliotto in scagliola bianco su nero del 1681, conservato all’interno della Chiesa della Beata Vergine delle Grazie della frazione Bricco del comune di Neive (CN). Attraverso l'analisi della sua tecnica esecutiva e dello stato di conservazione, la ricerca sulle fonti documentarie inerenti il paliotto, i confronti stilistici sia con opere coeve piemontesi che con opere coeve emiliane, si dimostra l'appartenenza dell'artista esecutore dell'opera all'ambito peculiare della Scuola della scagliola carpigiana, di cui si forniscono dettagliate informazioni storiche e tecniche nel presente contributo. Conclude la Tesi un approfondimento sulle opere in scagliola di epoca moderna presenti nella città di Genova, eseguite anche da un autore carpigiano.

The aim of this research is to carry out the historical and artistic analysis of an altar frontal on plaster dated to A.D. 1681, located in the Church of the Virgin Mary in Neive (CN). The materials, techniques and cultural background of the altar frontal are analyzed also through an archival research, in order to deeply understand its conservation status and provenance. Moreover, a detailed artistic comparison with other works of art on plaster from the XVII century both from the italian regions of Piemonte and Emilia Romagna is provided, in order to try to identify the author, who is thought to be from the Carpi area, near Modena. In conclusion, the dissertation offers some information about altar frontals on plaster located in the city of Genova.
