STRATEGIE PER LA RIQUALIFICAZIONE DEL LUNGOMARE DI BARCELLONA POZZO DI GOTTO

Abstract

Il seguente lavoro di tesi nasce dall’esigenza di valorizzare e riqualificare l’area litoranea appartenente al comune di Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto, in provincia di Messina. Il tratto di costa in questione si affaccia sul versante settentrionale della Sicilia, situato tra l’area marina protetta del Capo Milazzo a est, la riserva naturale orientata dei laghetti di Marinello a ovest e, verso nord, il sistema delle isole Eolie, risultando pertanto far parte di un complesso territoriale caratterizzato da un elevato valore paesaggistico. Nella prima parte dell’elaborato vengono messi in luce i principali aspetti legati alla tematica dei litorali, fornendo le adeguate definizioni relative alle diverse componenti del sistema paesaggistico in questione e affrontando, in maniera approfondita, le dinamiche e i principali processi che concorrono alla definizione dell’assetto morfodinamico dell’ambiente costiero. Successivamente sono state effettuate le analisi territoriali, a scala sovralocale e a scala locale. La suddetta fase è stata fondamentale per prendere atto dei diversi fattori che caratterizzano l’area oggetto di studio, delle sue criticità e dei suoi punti di forza, in modo da poter pianificare un insieme di strategie mirate a riqualificare e migliorare questa porzione di territorio, mitigando le avversità sia di carattere naturale che antropico e sfruttando le sue risorse, salvaguardandola e rendendola sempre più attrattiva sia per i suoi abitanti quanto per turisti e visitatori.

The following thesis work arises from the need to enhance and redevelop the coastal area belonging to the municipality of Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto, in the province of Messina. The stretch of coast in question overlooks the northern side of Sicily, located between the protected marine area of ​​Capo Milazzo to the east, the natural reserve of the Marinello lakes to the west and, to the north, the system of the Aeolian islands, thus resulting be part of a territorial complex characterized by a high landscape value. In the first part of the paper, the main aspects related to the issue of coasts are highlighted, providing adequate definitions relating to the various components of the landscape system in question and addressing, in depth, the dynamics and main processes that contribute to the definition of the morphodynamic structure of the coastal environment. Subsequently, territorial analyzes were carried out on a supra-local scale and on a local scale. The aforementioned phase was fundamental to take note of the various factors that characterize the area under study, its criticalities and its strengths, in order to be able to plan a set of strategies aimed at redeveloping and improving this portion of the territory, mitigating both natural and anthropic adversities and exploiting its resources, safeguarding it and making it increasingly attractive both for its inhabitants and for tourists and visitors
