Romano Guardini e la formazione intellettuale della Rosa Bianca: Un’eredità spirituale nella resistenza al nazismo

Abstract

La presente tesi si propone di esplorare il rapporto tra il pensiero di Romano Guardini e l’esperienza del gruppo della Rosa Bianca, unendo due dimensioni profondamente intrecciate: da un lato, la riflessione filosofico-teologica di uno dei più influenti pensatori cristiani del XX secolo; dall’altro, la testimonianza concreta di giovani che, nel cuore del regime nazionalsocialista, hanno scelto la via della coscienza, della fede e della resistenza non violenta. Romano Guardini, teologo e filosofo italo-tedesco, ha esercitato un’influenza decisiva sulla formazione spirituale e intellettuale di intere generazioni di studenti tedeschi. Le sue opere, il suo insegnamento universitario e la sua profonda riflessione sul rapporto tra libertà, coscienza e verità hanno contribuito a forgiare uno stile di pensiero capace di resistere alle derive ideologiche del suo tempo. In questo contesto si inserisce la figura dei giovani della Rosa Bianca – in particolare Hans e Sophie Scholl – che, proprio attraverso la lettura e l’interiorizzazione del pensiero guardiniano, trovarono un fondamento per la loro opposizione al nazismo. La Rosa Bianca non fu soltanto un movimento politico o di protesta, ma una vera e propria esperienza di resistenza etica e spirituale. I suoi membri, animati da una profonda fede cristiana e da una forte responsabilità morale, scelsero di opporsi alla menzogna e alla violenza attraverso la parola scritta, la diffusione dei volantini e l’invito alla riflessione critica. In questo cammino, l’influenza del pensiero di Guardini – in particolare riguardo al valore della coscienza, alla responsabilità personale e alla verità – fu tanto silenziosa quanto decisiva. This thesis aims to explore the relationship between the thought of Romano Guardini and the experience of the White Rose group, bringing together two deeply intertwined dimensions: on the one hand, the philosophical and theological reflection of one of the most influential Christian thinkers of the 20th century; on the other, the concrete testimony of young people who, in the heart of the National Socialist regime, chose the path of conscience, faith, and nonviolent resistance. Romano Guardini, an Italian-German theologian and philosopher, exerted a decisive influence on the spiritual and intellectual formation of entire generations of German students. His works, his university teaching, and his profound reflection on the relationship between freedom, conscience, and truth contributed to shaping a way of thinking capable of resisting the ideological deviations of his time. In this context, the figure of the young members of the White Rose—particularly Hans and Sophie Scholl—emerges as central, as they found in the reading and internalization of Guardini’s thought a foundation for their opposition to Nazism. The White Rose was not merely a political or protest movement, but a true experience of ethical and spiritual resistance.
