IL PATRIMONIO ARTISTICO DEL DUOMO DI CASALE MONFERRATO

Abstract

La Cattedrale di Sant'Evasio, ubicata a Casale Monferrato, custodisce al suo interno un vasto patrimonio artistico dislocato nelle varie cappelle di cui essa è composta e nella sacrestia. Parte delle opere disposte all'interno della sacrestia sono riconducibili a botteghe piemontesi, altre a Francesco Guala e le restanti ad altri pittori attivi tra il XVII e il XIX secolo. Nei secoli, la chiesa, a causa di guerre e incendi, venne più volte danneggiata, ma grazie a continue ricostruzioni avvenute tra il XIX e il XXI secolo, oggi si presenta in tutta la sua bellezza.

The Cathedral of Saint Evasio, located in Casale Monferrato, holds a large collection of artworks in its chapels and sacristy. Some of the works in the sacristy come from Piedmontese workshops, some were made by Francesco Guala, and others by different painters who worked between the 1600s and 1800s. Over the centuries, the church was damaged several times by wars and fires, but thanks to many repairs from the 1800s to the 2000s, it can now be seen in all its beauty.
