Parenting e Paralisi Cerebrale Infantile: uno sguardo sugli stili genitoriali e sull'esperienza fraterna

Abstract

In questa tesi si analizza come la paralisi celebrale infantile (PCI) influenza gli stili di parenting e lo sviluppo dei fratelli. Attraverso una revisione della letteratura si indagano gli effetti che questa disabilità ha sul sistema famigliare, ricercando i fattori di rischio e di protezione per l’adattamento. Dopo un inquadramento generale sulla PCI, viene spiegato l’impatto che essa ha sulle pratiche educative famigliari e sulla fratria, considerata sia nella relazione diretta con il fratello disabile sia nella risposta ai cambiamenti dello stile genitoriale. È emerso come le conseguenze siano molteplici e variabili, in base a fattori individuali, relazionali, sociali e culturali, oltre che alla gravità e alla tipologia della PCI. Emergono inoltre alcune lacune nella letteratura che rendono necessario un approfondimento per sviluppare interventi mirati e multidimensionali.

In this thesis investigates how infantile cerebral palsy (PCI) influences parenting styles and sibling development. Through a literature review, the effects this disability has on the family system are investigated, investigating risk and protective factors for adaptation. After a general background on PCI, is explained the impact it has on family educational practices and on the sibling, considered both in the direct relationship with the disabled sibling and in the response to changes in parenting style. It emerged how the consequences are multiple and variable, depending on individual, relational, social and cultural factors, as well as the severity and type of PCI. In addition, it emerged some gaps in the literature that necessitate further investigation in order to develop targeted and multidimensional interventions.
