MARGINALITÀ E POLITICA LEGISLATIVA IN ANTICO REGIME: VAGABONDI, ZINGARI E MENDICANTI

Abstract

Il lavoro principale è stato analizzare la marginalità e l'esclusione sociale in Europa nell'età dell'Antico Regime, con particolare attenzione alla figura dei vagabondi, degli zingari e dei mendicanti. Sono state esaminate le strutture sociali dell’Antico Regime, le politiche assistenziali e repressive adottate nei principali contesti europei e italiani, e preso in considerazione il caso specifico della Toscana tra XVI e XVIII secolo. L’obiettivo è evidenziare come le amministrazioni abbiano alternato strategie di inclusione e controllo, contribuendo esse stesse alla costruzione sociale della marginalità e dell'esclusione sociale.

The main focus of this work is the analysis of marginality and social exclusion in Europe during the Ancien Régime, with particular attention to the figures of vagabonds, gypsies, and beggars. The study examines the social structures of the Ancien Régime, the welfare and repressive policies adopted in major European and Italian contexts, and considers the specific case of Tuscany between the 16th and 18th centuries. The aim is to highlight how administrations alternated between strategies of inclusion and control, thereby contributing to the very social construction of marginality and social exclusion.
