In cammino con l'autismo - Comunicazione Aumentativa Alternativa nei sentieri dell'entroterra ligure

Abstract

La ricerca che caratterizza questa tesi si basa sull’idea di adattare i percorsi sentieristici del paese di Rialto, nell’entroterra ligure, rendendoli più inclusivi e accessibili attraverso la Comunicazione Aumentativa Alternativa (CAA). L’iniziativa deriva dalla mia esperienza con Enea, ragazzo con autismo con il quale da anni percorro i sentieri della zona. Dopo una parte iniziale dedicata alla sindrome dello spettro autistico, il lavoro si sviluppa considerando l’importanza del rapporto uomo-natura e del benessere che ne deriva, e presentando alcune delle ricerche e delle pubblicazioni più significative riguardo a questo tema. Il terzo capitolo ricalcherà la stessa impostazione del secondo, dedicandosi però al rapporto autismo-natura. Nel quarto capitolo presenterò il progetto nato dall’esperienza con Enea e il territorio dove andrebbe attuato, ossia il paese di Rialto, situato nell’alta Val Pora in provincia di Savona, e la sua rete sentieristica, prendendo in considerazione un tratto ben specifico che, secondo me, per le sue caratteristiche si adatta perfettamente alle necessità di una persona con autismo alla sua prima esperienza di camminata sui sentieri o a chi ha avuto difficoltà in esperienze precedenti. Nel capitolo finale presenterò l’analisi dei questionari creati e somministrati a persone con autismo, ai familiari di persone con autismo e alle figure professionali che con essi lavorano, per capire se l’idea alla base risulta essere effettivamente fondata e per riportare tutti quegli elementi utili allo sviluppo del progetto che i partecipanti hanno avuto occasione di esplicitare.

The research that characterizes this thesis is based on the idea of adapting the hiking trails of the town of Rialto, located in the Ligurian hinterland, making them more inclusive and accessible using Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). The initiative is born from my experience with Enea, a boy with autism, with whom I have been walking the trails in the area for years. After an initial section dedicated to autism spectrum disorder, the work develops by considering the importance of the human-nature relationship and the well-being that comes from it, presenting some of the most significant researches and publications on this topic. The third chapter will follow the same approach as the second but will focus on the autism-nature relationship. In the fourth chapter, I will present the project born from my experience with Enea and the territory where it should be implemented, the village of Rialto, located in the higher Pora Valley in the province of Savona, and its trail network. I will consider a very specific section that perfectly suits the needs of a person with autism during their first experience walking on trails or for those who have had difficulties in previous experiences. In the final chapter, I will present the analysis of the questionnaires created and administered to people with autism, their family members, and the professionals working with them, to understand whether the underlying idea is actually well-founded and to report all the useful elements for the development of the project that the participants had the opportunity to express.
