Relazione tra Attaccamento e Teoria della Mente: uno studio sulla lettura dell'espressione degli occhi in un campione di persone anziane.

Abstract

Questo progetto di tesi esplora la relazione tra Attaccamento e Teoria della Mente (ToM), in un campione di persone anziane, indagando la capacità di leggere le emozioni espresse degli occhi. La ToM, la capacità di attribuire stati mentali a sé e agli altri, è una abilità essenziale per le interazioni sociali e il loro mantenimento, fattori fondamentali per un invecchiamento attivo e per la prevenzione del declino cognitivo. L’Attaccamento è un legame emotivo e duraturo, in grado di influenzare il comportamento sociale. In questo studio si esplora la relazione tra le qualità dell’Attaccamento e la prestazione nel Test degli Occhi, in un campione di anziani sani. Ai partecipanti sono stati somministrati il Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) e la Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS), per escludere problemi cognitivi e depressivi che possano influenzare l’esecuzione delle prove di interesse per lo studio; il Measure of Attachment Qualities (MAQ) e il Test degli Occhi (TdO), per valutare rispettivamente le qualità dell’Attaccamento e la ToM.

This thesis project explores the relationship between Attachment and Theory of Mind (ToM), in a sample of older people, investigating the ability to read the emotions expressed by the eyes. ToM, the ability to attribute mental states to oneself and others, is an essential ability for social interactions and their maintenance, fundamental factors for active aging and for the prevention of cognitive decline. Attachment is an emotional and lasting bond, capable of influencing social behavior. In this study, the relationship between attachment qualities and performance in the Eye Test is explored, in a sample of healthy older adults. Participants were administered the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) and the Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS), to rule out cognitive and depressive problems that may affect the performance of the tests of interest for the study; the Measure of Attachment Qualities (MAQ) and the Eye Test (TdO), to assess the qualities of Attachment and ToM, respectively.
